Bake Sale Goodies: Chocolate Chip Squares

Hello Happy Bakers! Well, I know that school is coming to a close, and I don't know about you, but I know a lot of school's are doing summer camp's for the kids. And sometimes these camp's ask for parent's to donate snacks to a bake sale so that the school can gain money for the new year! I can't think of a better way to raise money for your school, and do something fun with your kids!

So I found this recipe while searching for something to make for Lagan's camp this summer, and let me tell you....I will be making an EXTRA batch for home! hehe

Chocolate Chip Squares
Grocery List:
1-1/4 cups flour
1-1/4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
2 eggs
1-1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1-1/4 cups chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts (optional, ask if nuts are OK because of allergies!)

How to make it:
1. Heat oven to 350 degree F. Coat 8 x 8-inch glass baking dish with nonstick cooking spray; set aside.

2. Mix flour, baking powder and salt in a small bowl; set aside.

3. Combine sugars and butter in the bowl of an electric mixer. Cream, using paddle attachment, until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add vanilla and mix to combine.

4. On low speed, slowly add in flour mixture. Stir in chocolate chips and walnuts.

5. Pour batter into prepared baking dish and spread evenly. Bake at 350° for 45 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Remove from oven and place on a wire rack until completely cooled. Cut into squares and serve.
